A friendly explanation from Paul at Double Glazing Repairs
For anyone who knows me from my many years at Pro-fix Windows, I want to offer a clear and reassuring update about how guarantees work now that the company has closed.
I’ve always believed in being open and honest with customers, so this page is here to help explain things simply and avoid any confusion.
A Little Background
Pro-fix Windows was originally founded by me, Paul Duxbury, back in 1995. I ran the business successfully for 28 years, building a strong reputation for quality workmanship, honest advice, and reliable service. In April 2023, I stepped back from running the company and handed it over to my son, who continued operating it as his own independent business.
After after two years Nov 25, my son made the personal decision to close Pro-fix Windows. Like many small businesses, circumstances change, and sometimes closing a company is simply the right choice for the owner at that moment.
Because Pro-fix Windows is no longer trading, the company itself cannot provide warranty or guarantee services. Although I founded the business many years ago, I do not own or operate it anymore, and I’m not able to offer free labour or guarantee work on behalf of a company that no longer exists.
I understand that many customers still associate me with Pro-fix Windows, and I truly appreciate the trust people have placed in me over the years. That’s why I now run Double Glazing Repairs, where I continue to offer honest, reliable, and cost‑effective repair services — completely independently from the former Pro-fix Windows.
If you need help with a window or door issue, I’m always happy to take a look and provide a straightforward repair service.
How Guarantees Worked at Pro-fix Windows
1. Labour Guarantee (Installer’s Guarantee)
Pro-fix Windows provided a labour guarantee that covered workmanship for the first twelve months after installation.
This guarantee has now expired for all past installations.
2. Manufacturer’s Warranty (Product Guarantee)
Most products — uPVC windows, doors, handles, sealed units, etc. — came with a manufacturer’s warranty.
This warranty is between the Pro-fix Windows and the manufacturer, not the customer.
Manufacturers may still supply replacement parts if they are covered, but:
They do not cover labour
They do not send engineers
They do not pay for fitting
This means that even when a part is supplied free of charge, the fitting is still a paid service.
What I Can Help With Now
Although Pro-fix Windows is closed, I’m still here running Double Glazing Repairs, offering:
Repairs to windows and doors
Fitting of manufacturer-supplied parts
Replacement hinges, locks, handles, and sealed units
Adjustments, servicing, and general maintenance
All work is carried out independently and is chargeable, as it is no longer connected to the former Pro-fix Windows guarantee.
I’m always happy to help — I just need to make sure everything is clear and fair for everyone
Why This Matters
I know many customers trusted Pro-fix Windows for years, and I’m proud of the reputation we built.
This page isn’t about avoiding responsibility — it’s about making sure expectations are clear now that the original business no longer exists.
You’ll always get honest advice from me, and I’ll help wherever I can.
If You Need a Repair
Just get in touch and I’ll take a look.
If a manufacturer can supply a part under their warranty, I’ll happily fit it for you — the labour will simply be charged at my normal repair rate.
Friendly, straightforward, and no surprises.
